February 10, 2007: CURB's Annual Group Show "Beyond Borders" March 2 - April 16, 2007 The CURB Artspace, 535 West 34th Street, proudly presents the CURB Arts Group Annual Invitational Salon Beyond Borders. Beyond Borders celebrates the fifth anniversary of the founding of the CURB Arts Group. Established in 2002 with the sole ambition to promote the work of international artists living and working in New York City, the group has grown and developed in partnership with the Young Soloists of New York Chamber Society, a non-for–profit organization under the leadership of Mr. Kiril Tarpov. An artist supported, creativity driven collective, the CURB Arts Group promotes aesthetic dialogue between music, visual and performance arts and welcomes artists from a wide scope of experience, ideas of interest and art forms. During the last five years the CURB has been presenting artists from all over the world individually and in group shows. Among these the annual CURB exhibit has become a cultural tradition. Beyond Borders collection highlights the richness of the CURB experience through the work of five of its champions, the painters Robert Aitchison, Iliyan Ivanov, Joseph Kilrain, Christopher Parkman, and Mark Wiener who are joined by a newcomer, a New York based artist Ina Tumova. Beyond Borders is empowered by the diversity of styles and themes and strives to support every artists' highly individual voice, reaching beyond the borders of conventional ideas. The exhibit will present the latest of Aitchson and Weiner's compelling and highly dynamic abstract palettes, Kilrain's personal "love" narratives, Parkman's sensual paintings and collages, African art inspired cut-out works on paper by Tumova and Ivanov's square foot paintings assembled into multifacet compositions. The opening receptions for the artists, including live jazz, will be held on Friday, March 9th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the CURB Artspace.
